The biscuits were prepared from a modified version of Smitten Kitchen's cream biscuits recipe and the cheesecake recipe is from an online Cooks Illustrated recipe (via subscription only -- sorry).

Labor day in Singapore falls on May 1st. This morning I caught up with a friend over brunch at a lovely bakery restaurant overlooking a private marina. I had 'eggs royale' which was poached eggs and smoked salmon over english muffins with hollandaise sauce. The food, the view: I felt like I away on vacation.
